Title: Thermal correlators, factorization and semiclassics
Abstract: Thermal correlation functions in CFT’s at finite temperature are extremely interesting objects. For instance, on one hand, they can be used to study aspects of the structure of the CFT, such as OPE coefficients. On the other hand, for holographic theories, they encode very interesting information about quantum gravity and black holes. In this talk we will concentrate on 2- and 3-point functions for operators of large dimension in holographic CFT’s. The 2-point function, in the OPE regime, allows to recover in a very non-trivial way a universal relation between the free energy and the central charge for d-dimensional CFT’s. Interestingly, by including higher curvature couplings the 2-point function can probe the proper time to the singularity. The 3-point function exhibits an interesting factorization property, which, as we will argue, is tied to a semiclassical approximation for large dimension operators.
